Douglas M Brewster Artist

Welcome to the Gulf is a 96"x 82"x 12" mixed media work in 3 panels. It deals with the southern culture surrounding Louisiana and the 2004-2005 Hurricane Seasons which produced Hurricanes Ivan, Katrina and Rita. Hurricane Katrina directly hit Louisiana causing flooding in New Orleans. My wife and I sat through the storm in Covington,La on the north shore of Lake Pontchatrain. My studio in New Orleans flooded with 8 feet of water and a 100 foot tall pine tree fell on the house in Covington. This work was under completion from 2004-2008. It was exhibited as part of the St. Claude Collective in the Prospect 1 Exhibition 2008 It is a good introductory image for the newcomer to my art.
